I fix things for my neighbor now and then. Last year his brother was running the disc mower on a 5030 Ford and it quit on him. I had serviced it the month before and had to drain the fuel tank bugs and crud no water. I got him to start using a funnel with a strainer. Anyway after replacing the filters and fuel bowl they broke I couldn't get fuel to the injectors. I sent the injection pump out to get repaired. Ended up being the head had sheared off inside the injection pump. Now fast forward to this year He is running The JD 5420 disc mowing and the tractor quits. Have had problems with it not wanting to start with fuel below 1/2 tank and plugged fuel filters that's all. So I pull the fuel filter and it's only half full. Change filters check valve replace seals in filter still won't bleed. So I add an electric fuel pump. Bled it out fuel coming out of return line on top of pump no fuel to injectors. Fuel shut off doesn't click but has power to it when on and during start. I did the same thing last year on the Ford. Is it possible that the head sheared off this injector pump also?
