What is this line?

My 1939 9 N has two lines coming out of the timing cover. Looking from the front of the tractor the one to the right of the distributor goes to the intake manifold. The one to the left of the distributor is an open line going nowhere. I'm aware this may not be an original timing cover. Could someone give me some info on this line?

You have to remember these guys on here are all getting OLD and have poor eyesight.

My experience with a Ford 9N is very limited The open line you referred to I have no idea of it's function. I noticed you asked that same question on the Ford 9N, 2N & 8n discussion group which should net you the correct answer to your questions.

The only external lines on a 9N go into, and out of, the oil filter.... emptying back to the crankcase via the governor.
