What is this pin?

What is this pin used for? I've never seen anyone use it on any equipment. We had 9N & 8N's when I was young and the Fords had same set-up. I removed mine from F-40 today and never knew it would hinge to remove it.

Also used to carry implements that have to be maintained at a certain height and of course the pick up hitch...

On a TO30 this pin is used to attach the top hitch point to the tractor. The front of this hitch point hooks to the spring that makes the "Ferguson System" work.

The rear mount Dearborn loaders fasten to it. It does the same as the short pin on the Ford 9N & 2N tractors tht hold the rocker fror the top link. The reason for the folding is to clear the fenders for removel. Some of the rear mount mowers use a bracket that hooks to that pin for the top link. And I also have an old rear mount manure loader made by the Self Manufacturing Company that also hooked to it to lock out the draft control to do the same as position control.

Among other things as you can see attached to this posting, you use this Hinged pin for the Draw-bar stays and 11 hole draw-bar that come with the tractor when new. But it is used for many things that need a firm attachment to the tractor, the Top Link attachment should not be used, that is only for anything that uses Draft Control or a standard 3 point linkage connection....John(UK)[email protected]

I use this pin when i put on the upper stabilizer bars for my cross bar hitch on my TO-35. The way the hitch was made if you loaded a trailer too heavy in the rear the hitch could raise up without these stabilizer bars.

also install the stabilizer bars when i use the upper stabilizer bars for my seeder.

must lock down the lift arms in their lower position when you use the upper stabilizer bars, if by chance you were to hit or raise the lift arms,

you would ruin your hold day as your stabilizers would be bent in a rainbow shape.

this pin was part of the main hitch system until the under belly hitch was installed. under belly hitch was much simpler to use and did not swing around so much.
