What is this truck??

Was watching a YouTube video and came across a pretty cool old truck and my wife is hooked!! She wants one bad… problem is, I have no clue what this thing is… any ideas?

Looks like an old disaster relief truck or civil defense communications unit. Maybe military support of some type originally and became police support. Cities got a lot of odd surplus military equipment to use for fire support....James

40 some years ago there was a fleet of trucks local to me with similar beds/boxes. They where a oil well logging outfit that sent radioactive devices down a well being drilled to "map" the area around the hole.

I had a V-12 gas in a 9500 and it had an extra long hood. The 12v-71 Detroit was even longer.

Odd GMC box van made into Bookmobile....James

oil feild logging truck they carried up to 20,000 feet of cable to inspect oil wells
