Had this 966 for years but I always wondered what these hooks were meant to do....

For carrying a hydralic cylinder.Back when you only owned one cylinder that was transferred from one implement to another......
 
Yup as delta said.

In all the years of running 10 and 966's I used it once for a cylinder. Worked good to hang a drawbar pin as well.
