What is this?

Local auction house is selling this on Saturday.

And no one, including me, know what it is.

It is about 30" long and the round part is about 6" in diameter. The round post digger scraper type things spring in and out by hand about 3".

At the bottom that round shaft has 4 spurs on it about 2" long like a harpoon would have.

We are thinking something to do with hay.

The picture doesn't show it but there is kinda a keyway slot on one side of the top where it could hook to something else. There is only about a 1/2 inch of the thing missing from the picture at the top.

On the steel is stamped AM.T.S.CO Austin Minn. I think.

What is it?

Its not a harpoon hay fork. At least not like the one I have.No idea as to what it is. Maybe a fodder shock lifter? I would give $30 plus shipping for it , if you want to mess with it and doesn't bring more than that.

I have no idea but I've heard of a farm sale where they brought out some strange looking metal contraptions for sale. The antique buyers and others were bidding away on them. Turns out the farmer's sons said they were just junk they had bolted together or welded for the heck of it. Had no purpose or use whatever. Maybe a part off that ETD that used to be mentioned on this page.
