Sorry, those are feeders. Only 36 head. Weighed 708 two weeks after weaning. Had them on wheat pasture (in background) until we had 3.25" or rain a week ago. Opened up the barn this a.m. but the snow doesn't seem to bother them as the temp is only 35F.

Has anyone watched any of the episodes of Last American Cowboy on the Discovery or History Channals? They didn't hesitate to show the realities of real cattle farming. (the realities of life and death during calfing season, including the tools and methods used to assist cows deliver their calves). It is no different in dairy country either. Even though here in the north east we don't free range cattle, the realities of farming are the same. Animal wrights people might be offended, but farmers are the soul of this country. My hat is off to all farmers and their detication to the land and their animals. The majority of people in this country don't have a clue how the food they eat is produced, and American Consumers waste at least 20% of the food that farmers produce. Just ask the local garbage man, and look along the side of the road.

Donno, but there were hailstorms in west Michigan today. I got beautiful sunshine punctuated with showers.
