Dad said beware of a nice paint job on old equipment. Id be suspicious of that plate bolted to the frame just ahead of the axles.

Typical new Paccar. The stacks are just for show. Most of the ones around here have dual stacks if any at all, a functioning rightside stack and a dud driver's side one. Check out the newer KW or Peterbilts you see. There are the odd 389's where the driver's side is functional --- I'm guessing that's buyer's demand.

Not to me and I think if you look closer there may have been a chain rack or something mounted there at one time and your not supposed to have open bolt hole so probably just tightened the bolts back up without the item that was there. I would have turned the bolts around so they didn't catch things like that. I would think that an under slung exhaust would be a problem for fumes if left idling at night in cold or hot weather while sleeping. And then I also suppose most places don't allow idling now for that unless fluffy is in there then all's well.

It's probably nothing that's been mentioned, some tiny detail that you can only see up close and personal, totally inconsequential.

You hate it when people post stuff like this on facebook, why do it here? Just point out the problem.

It's the dual stacks that are for show, while there is a functioning underslung exhaust. Enlarge the photo and look at the back of the tank area and it's there in plain sight. Typical Paccar along with their crappy electronics.

I saw that, and I consider it neither "wrong" nor "dishonest." Supertruckers cover their trucks with all kinds of useless bling all the time, including gaudy unnecessary stacks, and you ooh and ahh over it.

Kinda like the "Laker Pipes" you see on 50s customs at car shows......lots of them are dummies as well.
I guess its a lot easier to keep them clean and shiny; nothing really wrong with that!
