What make hay rake

I am trying to figure out what make hay rake this is and if parts are still available, the gear box is leaking a little bit. TIA

New Holland. I believe #56. The gear box leaking gave it away.

Could be a 55 also. Mine leaks a bit as well. I pump some grease in it each spring and forget about it.

I thought it was a NH but the rake portion is red not yellow like the rest I have seen. So you don t think it is worth $300 and repair the gearbox?

Wrong axle set up for it to be a 55.

It's been repainted, paint looks too good to be original. Also, there's a tag to the upper left of the gear box, you can see it in your second pic. It'll tell you the model #.
Around here it's worth $300, but personally I'd not mess with the gear box for a small leak. Fill with grease and use it.

Yep, you're right. I missed that. 56 it is.

It's a NH 56, 55 has a straight axle, 256 front reel support bolts thru the basket frame, that one hangs under.
Good rake, many make the mistake of putting 90W oil in the gear box which will leak out.
The gear boxes on these rakes use a flowable grease similar to JD corn head grease.

Appears to be a New Holland 56 because of the jack it has on it.If all is wrong with the gearbox is leaking just pack it full of cornhead grease and go to raking.I think even
NH now says to use cornhead grease and not oil.All parts can be had from NH for the gearbox but they are pricey.

Is the rake section easy to remove so I can load it in the back of a pickup (7 with tailgate down), and do you know how wide the rear tires are was thinking of putting both in the bed as I don t have access to my trailer right now or the person will deliver for $150. They are about 2 hrs away.

If the shafts are snug and don?t act like there?s a bearing out pump a couple tubes of grease in the box and run it. If it is sloppy, a full set of bearings and
seals should be under $100. Looks like a 56 but could be a 256. Gearboxes are identical. Read the tag for model and serial #s.

Mine has a mix of cornhead grease and Lucas oil
stabilizer in it
