What size plow for a 4000

What size plow is good for a 4000 with 3 cylinder diesel and SOS?

I'm guessing a 3 bottom plow would be okay, just not sure how big of one it can handle.

I know it varies some depending on type of soil.

Used a 3x14 behind my 4600 diesel one time, and it played with it, even in our clay soil. Could pull it in 5th (8 speed, 16.9x30 rear tires) without heating up. Since you have the SOS, I think a 3x14 would be a good match in just about any soil.

FF:

I do not have a 4600 so must respect your opinion but I have watched my neighbor plow a hayfield with his early-mid 90s Ford 3 cylinder FWA diesel with a 3 bottom plow. His tractor was definitely not playing.

I'm not sure of the model number of his tractor but he tells me it is 62 HP. It is FWA.

The hayfield had not been plowed for a few years and the ground was a bit wet for plowing. It is pretty heavy clay.

I'm also not sure of the size of his 3 bottom plow but it is probably a 3x14 or a 3x16.

His engine was not working hard but his tractor was. He was on the differential lock ALL of the time and carrying the (FWA) front wheels some of the time.

I once had a good 66 4000 gasser with SOS. I'm sure that it would not have touched my neighbor's plow in his ground.
