What the heck?

Why do these old tractor collectors seem to think they have the rite to go in peoples barns and and see what they can find without asking? Dont they have any manors? Wonder what they would do if I did the same to them? That is really starting to make me mad.

I have found a few that chose to try to go into my barn, they found out that I carry a gun, and learned quickly they do not want to get introduced to it.

I resent that! I am an antique tractor collector and proud of it! What you are referring to are Jerks that want to get an antique tractor for little of nothing or steal it and turn it into cash!

I understand what you are saying. Where I live I have people all the time looking at my stuff and some even will ask me if I want to sell. It gets old but then I realise this is what happen where I live.

Understand what yer saying. I myself ask permission to look at tractors. Have never been in someones barn without them, that would be rude and dangerous.

I think you need to substitute "scrappers", or "thieves", although there's always a few "collectors" that act that way.

As to having "manors", one would like to think those with land holdings/possessions would not need to behave in such a manner!

This area, awhile back,
there was a white cargo van,
they would pull up close,
then let the pretty girl go up and walk around.
If the coast was clear,
They would pull in and take anything two men could carry,
for scrap metal.
They were some of the immigration problem
from South of the border.
I put caution tape up around the house,
and outbuildings.
already had no trespassing signs,
figured the tape might help me out
in court when I shot em all,
Dog-gone-it, they never tried my place...

I dont have any problems with scrappers any more. Once you say no they usually leave you alone. But not some of the people wanting old tractors! At least they could ask if they could look arround I could understand if colectors went and looked if there was a For Sale sign out. But dont understand why some people just cant mind their own business.!

Also some folks who come to do a job on you farm ie.. fix an appliance, will case the place , maybe ask a casual question about an old lawnmower in the weeds, couple weeks later the mower is gone. You cannot accuse him of the theft, but circumstances don't lie sometimes.
