Got this Snap On Tool at a garage sale today for $10. Myself and the previous owner do not know what it does. A Google search of the part number does not match the tool.

Probably some sort of specialty tool. Might be for working bolts through an auto frame where only one side is accessible?

What's the number on the tool?

I believe it is for installing flange bolts on large process valves. A socket goes on each end; you reach over the head to hold it firm with one socket and ratchet down the nut with the other socket connected to the extension. Bolts on the flanges are so close together you sometimes cant get a hand wrench on them in close quarters.

New to me. Obviously it a ratchet wrench extension that holds both the bolt and nut. Usefulness is limited but that's true for all tools. When it is useful it beats fumbling with a separate wrench.

Looks like it would be great for flange bolts. Large valves, steam lines, compressor lines and drive shafts. Been lots of times I could have used that.

Flange bolt extension tool. I did not know that they were still being made. They original style consisted of a spinner handle set up for use in removing and installing the oil pan bolts on I believe the ford model A and T.

Snap-On sold a tool looking like that in their "railroad" tool line; if I recall correctly, it was to service big-end connecting rod bolts on EMD engines.
