:? TO-30 with over size pistons. Trying to set carb. But getting pulsing while running / testng . At idle it runs smooth as silk , 1/2 throttle and it starts to pulsate and the guv'nr keeps trying to come in . Do I need to adjust the linkage more ? Main jet is out 2-1/2 turn , otherwize it runs like crap. Under load it starts to pulsate and will not run smooth. :?:

Does sound like its starving for gas to only run well at 2 1/2 which is way more than oversize pistons would require.I'd suspect gas flow to carb is insufficient. Old gas will cause one to run bad.

2 has a very good hunch, as well as triple check all of the above, 2 &1/2 turns sounds like a lot, depends when it was last rebuilt, linkages are very finiky too, but as 2 said, if it idles perfect but can't throttle up, hey with no fuel pump, it can be starving. Very likely.....

How clean is the carb? Sounds like your main nozzle is dirty or partially clogged, your float level is off, etc.

I have taken the carb off , its new , and checked all filters and float level. It was clean , but the main jet has build up on it. Almost like rusting. Sometimes it will run perfect then it will start to sputter and the gov"nr trys coming in. This with NO load on it. I have a hill to test on , as it climbs the hill the gov"nr comes in and it starts pulsing could it be fuel delivery ? From the tank ?
Thanks for all the help.
