What's for dinner

Can not eat red meat this time of the year so I stopped at the seafood market on the way home.

Crawfish was still more than I like to pay due to the cold weather.

Shrimping season is closed in state waters but we can get shrimp from federal waters year round.
They had 21/25 shrimp for $4.00 a lb.

The wife boiled some and fried some for sandwiches.

Made for a nice dinner.

Well that looks better than mine! Boned chicken breast cut in strips and fried, asparagus, dinner roll....and the standard glass of skim milk and pot of Red Rose tea. You would think I would be a ghost based on what I eat...but no.

John, I admire you - I've seined buckets of crawdads for fishbait, but I can't imagine eating one. I worked with a guy who lived at Thebes, Illinois, right on the Mississippi River. He and his father-in-law would seine a few 5 gallon buckets of crawdads and then have a neighborhood feast, but I never went because I knew I'd have to be a gentleman and eat one. I'm 66, and have only eaten shrimp for about 5 years. Please don't think I'm discounting your wife's cooking - I'm sure it was quite a feast. South Louisiana is high on my list of places that I've always wanted to visit.

PJH, I'm with you on the crawfish! I have eaten them, and it was NOT fun!

Many years ago, back in my drinking days, friend of mine had a party, boiled up a bunch of them. He said he knew what he was doing, but looking back, I seriously doubt it.

Don't remember what they tasted like, other than muddy and nasty, but I do remember the smell! It was on my hands and in my beard for days! Didn't get sick, but was real nervous about it. Nasty!!!

Haven't had the desire to try them again, maybe if properly prepared might be a different story, but I think I'll be just fine without them.

Now that's a good looking sandwich. I haven't had a Shrimp "Po Boy" since the last time I was in Slidell. I miss those trips down there.

If I send you a comm shipper cooler box would you overnight me 6-8 lbs? frozen? Those are beautiful. Like the ones we used to get from the bridges at night down in FL.
