I re watched the you tube clip, of A Few Acres Farm, that top ring on Pets MD,they were all broke, like he said i wander why it had blow bye, But why did they break? The local Case dealer always told me,that will happen to my 806D, but never had it apart! But the 806D & 1206 with the Roosa Master pumps all smoked and not over loaded, what did they change to prevent no broken top ring on the 806's ?? Or is the improvement of engine oil ?

I would expect that broken top rings on a rebuilt may be related to an improper rebuild. Failure to remove the ring groove at the top of the cylinder will break a top ring.

Broken rings can be caused by used pistons with worn ring grooves, over use of starting fluid, failure to machine the unworn portion of the top of the cylinder (ridge reamer), Extreme turbo or mechanical blower pressure plus way more fuel, improper ring gap (tight), a failed install ring compressor use, water hydrolock, and other things. Based on the thickness of the ridge at the top of the sleeves, my guess is the ridges weren't reamed flush the last time the engine was overhauled, and the top rings beat themselves against the ridges.

When I overhauled my 1256,(less than 6 mounths after I bought it in 2000.Before I even made the first payment!)the second ring in every hole was broken in half, right in the middle. It was an ether hog.Came out of a feedlot where it ran a tub grinder. The 'cowboys'would load it with a generous amount of ether and immediately pull it wide open and start grinding hay.
