Whats this angle for

Bought a bucket of hardware the other day and there were a bunch of these angles included. It's aluminum, a little less than 1/16" thick and clearly punched for screws or bolts. No name stamped in the metal. 2" wide x 2" x 2 1/2" in size. I suspect the angles were made for some specific installation and was wondering if anyone recognized them. For standing seam roofing, maybe?? Thanks.

I believe garage door hardware would have larger holes and also be Galvanized, just my thoughts.

One of my boys was doing commercial roofing for a while and he gave me a bucket of stuff with a mess of something like those in it. Not sure it was standing seam, but it may have been.

You could use them anytime you need a 90 degree corner brace. The last time I bought brackets like that was to tie trusses to a top plate of a wall.

(quoted from post at 14:56:49 08/27/20) Hurricane straps for construction?

That would not pass code for a Hurricane strap.
---------------------

Just a simple 90⁰ angle bracket. It can be used for all types of construction projects.

For code compliant hurricane clips in my area, the nails have to hardened and in shear, not tension.
