I am replacing front wheel bearing on JD 50 and was wondering what type of grease to the pack bearings with. What grease should I use on the other grease fitting on the rest of the tractor. Thanks for the help..

I always try to repack wheel bearings with wheel bearing grease. It's a tackier grease made for wheel bearings and other low speed bearings. Most of the fittings on the other machinery I just use a good grade of moly grease.

Tell me..is your "Moly Grease" more or less "runny"..???
I have a bucket left that I refuse to use except for in gear/steering boxes..won't even stay in the grease gun..leaks past the plunger...

Just bought a new 35 lb pail (Bulk) from NAPA "On Sale" was $102.00+...OUCH...

I always used to re-pack with "Fiber Grease", but still figured that if it had a grease fitting, it should still receive a shot now and then..

If the hub has a grease zerk fitting, I think an extreme pressure (EP) rated grease would be a good choice. That is what I use in the hubs on my gooseneck trailer with Dexter axles.

I use this on everything from slow rolling bearings to 2,000 rpm u-joints.

I like the red grease from Lucas Oil. Stays put longer and has double service life if you get a long day and don't want to stop to grease. Great in truck chassis too.

Yes. Lucas "Red-n-tacky". It has the "EP" rating.
