Wheel offset

The row cropping on my b is offset strangly. it was like that when my family bought it in the 50s it is a 39 btw. i was wondering if there was any probable reason for this like maybe to offset the draft on a baler or is it just wrong

I assume you mean that the rear tires are not set at the same spacing on each side. There could be several reasons. Farmers that used mounted corn pickers usually had to change their tread spacing, and I'm sure there are other implements that required tread changes also. Another reason could be that at some point they wanted to change the spacing, but could not get the wedge loosened up on one of wheels.
I have a 4020 where one of the rear wheels is set in about 5" more than the other side. I'd like to move it out, but I've read a lot of stories on here about how hard it can be to get the wedges to release. Someone prior to me has already twisted off one of the jack screws in the hub, so I take that as a sign that it's fine the way it is.
