Built '76-'79. Tap on the temp gauge, maybe you can unstick it.

Norm if I unplug pump it goes right bach up to 190 in about 10 minutes and pluging the pump back in comes down to 110 then slowly down to 100 just finished piping it up today but have been testing for three days so far so good

Very interesting. Mind sharing a little more about the pump. Where does it mount, etc.? Pictures? where did you get it? How much did it cost?

The engine is designed to run at the higher temp, if it's too cold there will excessive wear. I know these thermosiphon systems don't work as consistently as a circulating system with a thermostat, but they do need to run warmer than that.

I know what you mean welder .am thinking about thermostat control of pump.the natural convection still works with the pump shut off electric fan control in the piping looks like the way I will go. I got this pump on ebay a year ago it almost looks like a little fountain pump , came out of china but I do not have the address or remember the web site and is some type of composet (plastic} suppose to be good up to 100 degrees Centergrade.
On ebay now is a pump for $150 and that will do the same thing I just hung it off copper pipeing I put together ,its 2 inches below the top radiator fitting mounted vertical with the motor below the pump . Winston I do not know if I can post pictures. look up 12 volt water pumps on ebay If there is enough interest I will supply details I have seen engine cooling pump on ebay for 3 and 4 hundred from suppliers like summit racing , thats crazey the $150 pump on ebay will do it grab them up

I have searched all over ebay Now at 3am I found the ebay seller its Shysky and is listed as a car circulating water pump the one I got has a reostat speed control it sell for $29.97

I looked over Shysky's ebay sight. Thanks for sharing, If pictures are possable I would sure like to see your installation.

I think 100F is a little low, since the normal operating temp. is from 113F to 131F, probably you can achive that by slowing down the pump, but in case you install thermostat it should open at 107F ± 35 and fully open at 125F ±35 according to Yanmar.

Best regards
