It hooks to the underside of the battery box, right hand side. Keeps the throttle in harmony with the governor.

It's the governor compensating spring. The purpose is to resist any excessive pull from the governor. Without the spring, you may need to keep push on the hand throttle to maintain the desired engine RPM. The other end of the spring connects to a hole or notch on the bottom side of the battery box. In this attached picture you can see the metal "tab" sticking down on the right hand side of the battery box (looking through the hole in the bottom of the box.

It's sort of a pain to stretch the spring so that it can be fit onto the notch or hole in the battery box. When I replaced my broken spring I had to tie a strong string onto the battery box end of the spring and pull on the string in order to stretch the spring. Maybe someone knows of a better tool to hold the end of the spring.

To hook the spring, unhook the little throttle to bell crank strap and the governor rod from the bell crank and rotate the bell crank back to hook the spring and bring the bell crank back to rehook the two rods

Thanks again for the info fellas. I really need them to ship me the correct manual. I'm sure this was covered in it.

Great timing. I had pulled the NAA into the shop to try and adjust the throttle linkage to keep it from pulling back to idle like it has done since I rehabilitated it in 2017/18. My spring is missing! I labeled and put everything in containers when I disassembled it so it was already gone. Gotta find a substitute. This is exactly why I am on this site - someone always know. Thanks
