which 50 hp tractor... is it a 50 drawbar hp? 50 pto hp? or 50 engine hp? As there can be 10 hp difference or more between the tractors... New tractors are sold mostly by engine hp and old tractors were sold more by pto hp.. Engine hp is a engine on a test stand... with NO water pump, NO alternator, NO power steering pump, NO hydraulic pump, and NO drivetrain drag, no cooling fan... and subject to dyno and fuel biases..... so while its a much higher number, its not very meaningful. PTO hp is REAL!!!!!! and measured, and can be repeated as useful work on the farm that the farmer actually gets, vs some magic number from the engine in the magic castle... And new tractors are not as reliable as the old tractors??????Which "economy" 50 hp tractor is the best bang for the buck. It is time to consider replacing our 470 Long Landtrac compact. Everything still works but 1st and 2nd gear and finding someone to repair it is prohibitive.
in my opinion... So I would look for a 1965 to 2002 ford ie 4000, 4600, 4610, 4630, 4640 tractor as they are 52 engine hp or more, and have a pretty robust aftermarket parts supply, and are known to be Rock of Gibraltar... but sadly most of these are bought and taken out of country today at the auctions...Mexico buys about everyone that shows up.
