Which 800..?

Can anyone tell from the pic if this is a 820, 850, 860..etc.. I assume all the 800 series had a hood emblem that said "800".

Thank you,
Robert

Ok.... No, not really sure. I
had a feeling that all the 800's
had the same emblem. You dont
think they would make it easy on
a guy...lol. Havent heard the
tractor run, but it is in a barn
with about 30 other vintage
tractors. A friend of mine who
just passed away two weeks ago
owned all the tractors. Those 30
plus around 30 more will be
going up for sale soon.

A picture of the shifter would tell us whether it's a 4 speed or a 5 speed, which would narrow it down. A 4 speed would be an 820, 830 or 840, and a 5 speed would be an 850 or 860:

820 - 4 speed and no PTO or 3 point lift
830 - 4 speed with s point lift but and no PTO
840 - 4 speed with 3 point lift and non-live PTO
850 - 5 speed with 3 point lift and non-live PTO
860 - 5 speed with 3 point lift and live PTO

The 640 (4 speed, transmission driven PTO) has BADLY bent radius arms. This is indication of FEL abuse. Probably needs complete front end overhaul and likely replacement axle front bolster.

No, no one can tell from that profile what sub-model it is. I'm almost sure it doesn't have power steering, but that was an options on every 800 series.

Data plate is on casting under the air cleaner, where the starter mounts.

Give more info on the coming sale please.

Thank you buddy..Due to my lack of knowledge, i would have never known that arm wasnt supose to have that bow in it. Unless the two sides didnt match...

My friend just passed away about
2 weeks ago. Actually, the pics
i took were on the Saturday
before his death. Im sure it
will be a at least a few weeks
before the tractors go up for
sale. I will get more and closer
pics when that time gets here. I
want to give his widow her space right now. The farm foreman in charge of selling the tractors is another friend of mine, and he said he would let me know when things are ready to sale.

can i ask where they are at?

My best guess from the photo is a 1955 640 with the optional sizable yellow German wasp nest in the hood.

Note: The bee/yellow jacket/hornet nest was an optional dealer accessory, never a factory installed addition... ; > )

I believe they could have also been added during transport before the tractor arrived at the dealer, as well as being an owner installed option. :D
