Which ad blocker does anyone recommend?

I don't know but wished I could find one for both PC and cell phone. And one that would work.

What happens when you have an ad blocker running, and you're watching youtube for example? Is there a pause equivalent to the amount of time the ad would have taken to run? Does it go straight to the video?

What happens to banner ads? Is there just a blank hole where the ad would be?

I've never run an ad blocker because the sites that provide content, and the people that create content, depend on ad revenue. I'm pretty much blind to banner ads, don't even notice 'em, and I hit "skip" on the video ads where it's an option.

Oh, and why not just reinstall the ad blocker you had before if you were happy with it?

AdBlocker Ultimate works for me. I've used it for years and Microsoft Defender. Found no need for any of the others that do similar things.

I got tired of getting span calls on my android.
I went to the app store, downloaded Call Blocker, FREE
Knock on wood. No span calls today.
I would be getting 6 or more spam calls daily.
I can only hope my spam calls stop.
My android phone is linked to my Lenovo chromebook. So far so good.

Jim, did you suddenly get adds coming in like crazy? Has your computer become very slow? If so my guess is that a virus has been dumped on your computer somehow. Happened to me, not good.

Any software that prevents the user from running MS Edge or Chrome browsers will be sufficient. That includes the "software" installed between the user's ears.

I can't determine my computer is any slower than normal but yes ads did start appearing. I have attempted to download an ad blocker but it seemed to require a very long period of time. My daughter whom is a computer programmer is going to check out my PC as soon as she has some free time.

In my case you could barely keep them closed out fast enough to do any web browsing at all. My son had to dump the system and reload it, this was about 10 years or so back.

In my FireFox browser I have Adblocker Ultimate, Ghostery, and Duck Duck Go privacy essentials running. Some websites run a bit wonky, but I see no adds.

On those unknown calls I just answer, "Homicide, Detective Seargent Franks, may I help you?"

If you are running Windows OS, dowload and run Glary Utilities. It will find and remove malware, virus', all cookies, temporary files, repair regestry and Windos OS; and it is all automatic, just click the blue "scan for issues" button, then sit back and watch.
I've been using it for years to clean up things that slow down a computer and track your presence on the internet, without and bad side-effects.
