which manual is best

I"ve managed to get by on the site/forum info but now I have leaky axles. I believe it is time for a manual. I"ve seen "shop manuals", service, etc. Which one is best. I"m not concerned so much about the cost as I am getting a dud.
By the way, my axles didn"t leak until I overfilled with gear oil. Gotten worse ever since. I"ve seen the kit on the site with both seals and the breakaway collar. Do I need this or just the seals? Somebody explain the breakaway collar.

I'm going to assume you're talking about a Ferguson tractor, TO-20, TO-30, etc,since I flunked mind reading.
In my opinion, the Ferguson Shop Manual, Parts Manual and the specific model's Operator's Manual and the best ones to get. They have good systems descriptions and instructions on how to do most repairs. I'd stay away from the IT manuals because they are for more experienced mechanics and have only repair info in them and very little else. You can find the right manuals at this sight and on ebay, as well as many othe rtractor part's houses. the shop manuals are ~$20 + shpg and a reprints of the originals.

There are basicly 3 manuals to choose from.
(Like Jerry said assume you are talking about the TO-20, TO-30 or TE-20.)

The blue covered "Shop Service Manual" - best.
I&T manual - I have found less helpful (again as Jerry points out)
and
JenSales manual. Not really heard anyone say they bought or have one. Thus I cannot say.

By far the most recommended manual is the blue "Shop Service Manual for the TE-20, TO-20 and TO-30" - all three tractors in the same book.

BTW you should be able to purchase this manual for ~$8.00 not the near $40.00 nearly everyone charges. Do a search on Blackwell to find. Or you can get them from this site using the manuals botton under market place.
