which model?

I recently picked up a Harry Ferguson tractor. Judging from the serial # it's a 1953. OK now here's the dumb question, how do I know if it's a TE or TO and is it a 20 or a 30? Thanks in advance for the help

look at the left side of motor for long serial number. z120???? is a TO20. If it is Z129++++ you have a TO 30.
The TO 30 has the air breather coming through the dash.
I "think" the TE series tractors have "one-piece" metal "dog legs" on the side of hood.
I think the TO fergies are two piece.
Most TO fergies have delco electronics and Marvil=Sheibler? carbs.
I'm not big on the TO 20 or TO 30 but think this is correct.

A TE/TEA will have visible bolts holding the gear shift on the TO does not. The only place to get a serial number from is on TOP of the dash between the steering column and the hood and it will show TE TEA or TO just before the numbers. If you got numbers from any place else it may or may not help to place the year.

If it is a 1953 and the engine oil fill is at the front of engine it is a TO 30 if the engine oil fill is at the back of engine it is a TEA 20 and has a 85mm engine.

Check the metal the transmission case is made from, if it is cast iron, it is a TO made in Detroit, if it is Aluminium-like it is a TE made in the UK.If you gave us the serial number it would help us to tell you what it is.If it is a TE and 1953 it will be a 12 volt.Look around the Coil and the starter area on the Block for the engine number. TO's have a plate with the engine number riveted to the Block, TE's had the number stamped into the [email protected]
