Finally got the 2-44 I've been wanting for years. 13xx original hours. Been inside until the last 18 months or so that previous owner used it and stored it under the big blue shed in the elements. The model# is 515-71241. And serial number is 239-984-019. Can someone help me with the numbers please? I think I'm going to keep it original just clean it up and fix a few minor issues someone stole the lights off of it while back and gauges need replaced etc.. I'm thinking that I'm going to keep it original and inside, or should I restore?? Any input? Thank you

After 1968, they were all 2-44s. By that time, Oliver was pushing the Fiat built utilities. White turned the 550s over to the construction division from the ag division. If an ag dealer wanted one, they had to order it through White Construction. There was an extra charge of thirty some odd dollars to get one painted green with 550 decals.

Should be a 73 if I'm reading it right. Drop the 019, that's the transmission code. As far as paint, they're only original once.

It sounds like you want to keep it original and there is nothing wrong with that. My 1973 Oliver 550 was original when I got it and I always wanted it to be restored. In 2014 I spent an entire summer on it,
and I will tell you it will cost more to restore than the tractor is worth. But they are a beautiful little tractor and so user friendly. It is still my daily driver for 5' brush hog, grading 1/2 mile
driveway, cultivating tree rows, and blowing snow. My loader is actually an Allied 300, but it has Oliver decals now. Enjoy the new machine!
