2-70 with failed wakasha
we have a non turbo 354 perkins engine (as new)
would this fit into the tub on a 2-70?
has anyone done this? Any advice would be appreciated. The rest of the tractor is in excellent shape.
I know some of the early 1850's used the 354 engine or maybe
1800's ....not sure of the tub size on these.
thanks for the help

The Perkins will not fit into the 2-70 tub. I am not sure if an 1850 or 2-85/105 tub will bolt up to a 2-70 rear. You will have to check that out. However, a Cummins will fit. SHEPVA used to post on here and put a Cummins into a 1655. He brought it to the Oliver show in Dover, Ohio. He had pictures posted on his website. Search under "Repower" in this forum and a lot of info will pop up. Good luck.
We had a 2-70 that gave us fits. We broke two crankshafts at the center main bearing. After we got it back together the second time, we got rid of the tractor. It had less than 1500 hours on it when it left. We have run Olivers and Whites all of our lives and still do. I don't know what happened to the 2-70 but it was a problem from the first day. We had transmission troubles- would constantly lock up in two gears and then the hydraulics went bad too. I suspect it was built when White was going under and was made of parts shoveled off the floor.
