White 343 4 row planter auction

I aint sure where to put this so here it is. Im looking at
bidding on a planter. Its a white/Oliver 343 and I cant
find anything on it. I can find manuals but no other
auctions or pictures or anything. Im thinking its a bad
sign haha! Does anybody know anything bout these? Are
they worthwhile or a headache? Anything you can tell
med be appreciated. Thanks!

Tractor house has a 3 row listed.

Im not familiar, but it looks to be the independent row unit type, each row is driven by the closing wheel, so pretty easy to switch them around into whatever configuration you want.

The issue to me would be can you find plates (are they compatible with other brands or supported by Lincoln, Agco, ?) and what type of sprockets does it use to change planting rate; something common, are all sprockets included, can you still get a specialized sprocket.

Pretty much the two issues with an old planter, can you get the right plates and can you change to the right speed.....

Well sir I found that one but it looks quite older. It dont look quite like this one neither. And I read something on another forum that said something about how the plates were the same as on some model John Deere, they just had adapters so itd work and be compatible. Heres what it is though if it helps

it's basically a 543 set up on a 3-point toolbar. I had a 543. OK planter. It used John Deere plates with a plastic center drive adapter.

Im quite a fan of the JD 7000 finger pickup meters and the Kinze or JD bean meters for a planter that does good seed depth, singulation, and so forth. Dont have to match up plates to changing seed size.

But for a plate planter, that looks pretty good to me. Since you can get plates, I wouldnt be scared.....

Why not just move up to the White 5000 or 6000 series and lots of the parts would be available and the seed plates will plant most corn or bean plate will plant most all bean seed without the worry and Probably not any more expensive. They have a common transmission set of cluster gears for the seed setting just have to slide them on the shaft for the setting you want. rows drive off a common shaft but slide easy enough to move some and we have moved them from 30inch rows to 15-18 for beans.
