White smoke/steam???

Rebuilt my '56 MF50 with Continental Z134 engine. Started right up; needs fine tuning of timing and carb. After the engine warms up at idle for a minute or so it starts to blow soe white smoke or steam. I tend to think it's steam; it doesn't have a sweet odor like antifreeze though. After a few more minutes running at slightly higher RPM it stops. My question is could this be moisture that has condensed in the exhaust system or does it sound like something more serious like a leaking head gasket or cracked cylinder head. Thanks.
