Wide front ends

Can someone educate me on wide fronts. First, would a round wide front off of a 730 fit a 630? Also, was the round style the only factory wide front. Were the square type and after market part? How many types of wide fronts are even out there? Thanks much

JD had round and square factory frt ends for 2 cyl tractors. There are also several companies that made aftermarket frt ends. Swartz(sp) being one of them and my CRS is keeping me from naming any more brands.

There are several diffent types of wide fronts used on Waterloo row crops.

Early styled A-B (39-47) used what has been called an "anteater" wide front. The pedistal was diffent between the A and B but the axle itself was the same.

Late styled A-B-G (47-53) and 50-60-70 (53-55) used the "convertable wide front axle". This was the round tube style that could be swapped between a wide front tractor and a single or tricycle style. These could also fit the 20-30 series tractors. There is also a variation of this that was very narrow to allow for a 38" center to center for certain row crops.

Very Late 50-60-70 and 20-30 series (55-60) used a convertable style wide front end but it was a square casting. Theses gave a better turning radius over the round tubes. They will also fit the earlier tractors.

There are several aftermarket wide fronts out there including Norden, Schwartz, and a few others. These are fairly universal and depending on the mounts would fit several different brands of tractors.

Standard Chassis has the best looking wide front. Square wide row crop axle is acceptable. Round wide front looks butt ugly and stolen off an Oliver.

This is great info...what I was looking for. Thanks much gentlemen for educating me. I am actually looking for a 630 row crop/wide front unrestored to put to work.
