Will these tires fit?

Though there were other options available most 3000s came with 13.6x28 tires on 12" rims.
From reading these forums I understand you can go one size tire - up or down - on a rim.
Might look a bit like a drag tractor though.

14.9 is the next size up from the 13.6. The 14.9 is just a tad more then an inch bigger then the 13.6 is. I.E. subtract 13.9 from 14.9 and that will tell you how much bigger the 14.9 is

Firestone used to have a site that showed the heights of ag tires. But I just clicked on it and see that they have changed it so I can't give you definitave info.
It isn't the width that will be a big deal but the height of the 14.9s will be significantly taller than the 13.6s. Like I'm guessing 2-3" taller. Not a real big deal really but it will affect ground speed and appearance.

I've seen a few 3000's with 14.9's... looked fine, and probably made better use of the available power. Most rear tractor tires have the same "series" sidewall (except for certain low-profile sizes, like 15.5x38's).. I think the sidewall height is something like 80% of the tread width. That would mean 14.9's are roughly 1.04" taller than 13.6's. The others gave you good advice - up or down one size is OK... unless you're running radials or heavy axle loads.

Hey FordFarmer,

I always appreciate your posts and appreciate your knowlege. I assume we need to double the 1.04" (approx.) when discussing tire height (2 sidewalls), bringing us to just over 2"?

Chris

No but you would want to mount them on 13' rims for the best performance from the larger tire.

wider tires do have a disadvantage as far as lift arm clearance so you would have to off set the rim on the center to overcome the extra width of the tire (may-B)

If I were to go 14.9 I would want a wider rim (13") matched to the tire.

Good help desreves a little work on your part

What size tire do you have now and what is the width of the rim ,,, till you answer that question then theirs no right answer.

Jerry,,, firestoneag.com just go there and find a tire like their Field and Road and click on that one,,,,, all the specific info will appear
