We had some strong winds last evening. Looked out the window this morning and saw a full size shingle laying on the ground. I went out and looking at the roof to see where it came from and could't see where in came from, some of the roof is hard to see from the ground. I walked over to picked up the lost shingle, and discovered that it was the door mat not a shingle. That was a big relieve.

I thought that warning was a bunch of overblown hype until about 5 o'clock. I was closing a gate and all of a sudden, my hat was
off and laying in the feedlot in the manure. It was really howling for a while there. No damage that I've found yet.

Really bad wind here in the RR valley by Fargo. Lots of dirt blowing and leaves/trash. Gusts >40mph.

Setting it up for snow/rain/snow by the end of the week.

Going to put my snow tires on the car later today.

well, your hat didn't fair so well ?

That is more common than you think since the architectural shingles have become popular. The shingles instead of being one piece are two pieces stuck together with tar. If you don't put
the nails in the right spot you only nail one half of the shingle down and the other piece can come loose and fall off. No telling how many shingles I've had to pick up off the ground
and re-install at different peoples houses.

I tossed it in the washer. When I took it out if the drier this morning, there's wasn't a whole lot left of it.

40 mph gusts here today as well in ECMN, have about a 2 acre yard to keep free of leaves. Gone over it 4 times so far trying to keep ahead, we ll probably have to go one more time! I ve got a Simplicity Broadmoor, 2012 model, great little tractor and it s going through the gas this fall.

For the third year in a row, all the leaves in my 2 acre yard
are now in my neighbor's bean field. Don't have to worry about
leaves.

It was 2012, 10 years ago when we moved here.
The house was built in 1994. I think that the shingles on the house now were new before we moved here.
Anyone have any experience with the new steel steel shingles, that are being pushed, the last couple years?
We are heading south in the morning for warm weather and sunshine.

If the wind would ever blow east to west I might be in luck but I think it only blows from the east in the summer! As long as the weather is decent I don't mind it, haven't had to hook up the Agri-Fab this year so that saved on gas. On a nice fall day when you're finished it sure is gratifying.
