Winter Prep Done!

Taking advantage of one of the last warm (64°F) days of the year, I got the pressure washer out and cleaned up all the yard rolling stock, then changed oil in the washer before tucking everything away for the winter. I've been doing oil and filter changes on everything the past couple weekends…

The 8N has run perfectly all year – no problems at all! It seems to be getting along fine with the Boomer 8N, too.

I am *so* liking my rebuilt pole barn, too. What a pleasure to have the whole thing concreted now! I've got to finish wiring up outlets around the perimeter, and install a second entry door on the North side, but other than that, it's pretty well done. The grass has come in nicely since this pic was taken.

(here's the "before" pic for you newer folks - we got hit with a tornado in 2013):

Had a nice crop of kittens this year, too!

Good work! Shed looks great! I dont know what winterizing i'll be doing besides pulling the two batteries. Need to change the oil in one but have no
means of doing that here. I'm ashamed to say it hasnt had its oil changed in 3 years since the rebuild. Must be getting close to 50hrs on it now. The
rope seals and front side of the pan gasket are leaking.

If I click my heals three times will the next tornado pick
that pole barn up and set it in my back yard?
I could sure use it! LOL
Looks great Ed, glad you got it all back together.

Looks like you are in need of an upper deck with a hoist or sturdy gin pole by the wall to get the lighter weight "clutter" off the floor.... when the floor is FULL, the room is FULL. Snow stuff goes up in the summer, and, well... you get it!! Buildings are GREAT!!!! I LIKE IT!!!

Looking good Ed!!!
Wish I had your energy, but after 2 yrs+, of caring for the wife's accident injuries, my energy is very little, and things just do not get done.
You have done a great recovery there on your pole barn!!!
Hello to the family, from us here in Montana!!!

Cheers!!!

I have an 18'x24 (10' ceiling) heated shop area inside the shed, with 50lb/sq.ft. rated trusses in the ceiling - all the infrequently-used stuff goes up on top, including my lumber piles.

I'm still figuring out how to organize everything and make full use of the full conc. floor - the back half was dirt before the tornado, and now I have to try to keep it somewhat clean!

Seems to me you've done a "great recovery job" there, too, taking care of Leslie! Pole barns kind of pale in comparison when your spouse is down…

We'll always have fond memories of our visit to the "Carb Shack!"

Good grief, where the heck does time go??? That pic. was taken by you, or your wife, on 14 Sept. 2012.

Behave yerself!!!
LONG, Happy life to you and yours!!!!

Shame about your earlier barn but congrats on the new one.

Oh, the junk I could accumulate in a space that size! My tractor sits out under a three-sides open overhang of my un-powered hay barn/chicken coop. Truly shade-tree mechanic work.

Oh, the junk I could accumulate in a space that size!

Ben Franklin is attributed to have said "three moves is as good as a fire." I found that a tornado is just as effective.

I had piles of junk in the barn before, and hauled tons to the landfill and scrapyard as we cleaned up, not to mention burning huge piles of old recycled lumber I was saving "just in case I needed it later."

My Mom had passed in 2010, and the memory of dealing with her meager estate, on top of the tornado, led me to start doing some aggressive thinning down so my wife won't have to deal with it later (Lord willing!). Still have quite a bit to do, but I'm finally getting to the point where the "stuff" that's there is either 'needful,' or is on my short list of projects I plan to complete. Everything else is eligible to sell or scrap! It just takes longer to get rid of it than it does to get it in the first place!
