Winter Ready

Last week I got my tire back from the shop just in time to mount the dozer blade for some seat time (SW Michigan). Last year I had chains with no ballast and used a rear blade. This year I had them load the tires with RimGuard and I mounted the Dearborn dozer blade. It is like a whole new tractor and makes the 1200' drive less of a chore. Makes me wonder why I left the front blade in the hedgerow last winter.

I know that the rim is the wrong color. They were only supposed to sandblast and paint the inside to protect the new tubes. It was inexpensive.

Looks pretty good but very cold. I mounted my back blade on my 8N today and did run it up and down the drive. I'm going to need chains for it. The 1206 IH will do most of the snow work with the 8' blower and cab but I'm going to try to keep the snow/ice build up off before the thaw that turns our farm drive into a swamp! Wish I had a cab for the N!.....i spent from 74 to 96 in the Army on tanks.....I know how to be cold and uncomfortable.....now I don't need to be...LOL

Those are some chains!. I sure would love one of those front blades for my 2N. Anybody in Central NY know where i can pick up a complete system?

Grove, were you in that snowband that ran from Holland, down thru Allegan to the southeast?

I'm south of Allegan and had 15" by Tuesday am, then got about 3" on Tuesday, and another 4" last night.

I've had to change the bale forks and back blade an awful lot this week! Maybe time to get another N for dedicated winter work...

(quoted from post at 20:51:06 12/10/10) Mine is winter ready-parked under the shed till Spring, gas off, key off.
om, I lived in MS for a few years.........there is no "winter"......"til spring"? You ought to pay more attention to the old girl & take her for a spin at least once or twice a month!

I do crank it once in a while(not often enough though).....and No winter(compared to some) suits me fine. I cannot stand cold weather.

ou & me in that same boat on the cold weather. For most of my life, I have said, give me 100F over 35F/wind/rain any day. I wear a coat in the house! Wife tries to make the power company richer in the summer!
