Mornin all, I am running wire to my rear worklight on my 54 NAA. I have found info on the routing, clips etc. but can't find out what TYPE of jacket to put on the wire e.g. plastic, waxed cotton or?? Appreciate any info. Danke Al

If you're just making it work and you want to protect the wire, I would use the flexible plastic tubing that they use on wire harnesses in cars these days. You can get it at any auto parts store. If you are trying to make it original, I don't know what they used back then, but my guess would be braided cloth of some sort.

I think the OEM wiring was just a single wire with no protection. Others can sound in on that. If you are cheap like I am, use a 16 guage extension cord. It has it's own protection. I used a 50 ft orange extension cord and zip ties to re-wire my Jubilee, somewhat matches ford red. I made 2 circuits, one for the lights and the other for the ignition. Protected each circuit with a 15 a fuse.

I bought a few feet of black cloth loom from Kelly
Jewell a few year ago. He posts here rarely. Might
do a archive search for him. I looked for a link to
him on the other forum but came up empty.

two of mine came with remnants of cotton so I know that is what they came with. I have done a little searching for some correct housing, but all that I have found so far is fiberglass which would be OK but it is in 100 ft rolls. Hopefully someone knows where to get either cotton or fiberglass in 4-5 feet.

Try Homepro Fastners at the link below. I purchased some asphalt covered cloth loom from them. You can get it by the foot. It is like OEM for the 50's. The only issue is that the ashpalt makes the paint, but can be cleaned off. Hope this helps.

I got the black coated cloth wire cover from NAPA, they had various sizes. It was indentical to the rear wire cover on the harness I purchased from nnalert.

Cloth Wire Loom

That looks exactly like it. It must be the 1/4 ID since it needs to go through that hole in the axle housing.

Thank You Gentleman ! Awesome resource! I appreciate everyone's responses. I believe I will go with 1/4 inch asphault coated cotton, should work just fine. Have a blessed holiday. Al :D
