wire tie?

I am looking at buying a baler. What are the pros and cons for wire verses twine tie? A roll of baler wire is ALOT more expensive to buy than a roll of twine, so why would anyone use it? Which baler is easier to work on for a newbie?

Many many years ago wire was cheaper then twine was plus it did not brake as easy so then people wanted the old wire tie set ups. Good tight bale and wire would hold up to being dropped etc. a lot better then the old sisle twine would

Wire twister is also less likely to give you trouble on an old baler than a knotter.

With twine, you never have to be concerned about hardware disease.

Back in my Golden Days wire balers (hand-tie) were the only balers available. When twine balers came out we wondered how twine would keep a bale tight. The answer was they just made smaller bales.
