wiring diagram for 631

help went to archives no luck I have a 12 volt conversion 3 wire alt. 4 wire solenoid and a volt meter. I know that the alt. has a jumper that"s ok picked 12 volt control from solenoid bat. post one side of ignition switch goes to small post on solenoid the other side of sol. to push button. terminal block is nonexistent ignition coil and second wire from alt. a mystery and then we have a volt meter!! HELP HEIP have looked at dozens of schematics nothing works.

hat's wrong with the one john in la gave you a few post back? Add a voltmeter by tying one side to switched side of ign sw (key) and other to ground.

3 wire alt.

#2 spade to charge lug.

#1 spade thru a 194 lamp ( trailer marker lamp ) to the side of the ignition switch connected to the ignition coil.

charge stud to battery connection on 4 post solenoid.

neg wire on volt meter to chassis. + wire on volt meter to coil side of key switch.

other side of key switch to bat side of 4 post solenoid.

other large side of solenoid to starter stud.

now. that 4 post solenoid. if it is the correct tractor type, then:

thumb button on trans to one small post. other small post to side of key switch that coil is on.

pressing thumb button makes herturn over OLY when key is on.

Now. many times people get an automotive 4 post solenoid. on the auto solenoid, you cannot use the thumb trans button.

instead you have to use a momentary switch with one side hooked to bat side of solenoid and the other wire hooked to one of the 2 small posts, the non bypass post.

I don't reccomend using the auto solenoid and ditching the safety interlocked starting system.

Here is another diagram I drew. See if this one works better than the one I gave you in your other post.

thanks for all of the info, I've worked as a coal mine mechanic and electrician for 35 years, call it old age or CFS but this simple stuff is confusing and I'm having a problem. I've rewire 50 ton locomotives that have miles of wiring with no problem. But I will keep on stroking till I get it. Thank again
