wiring for 8N

On my 52 8N my lights quit working. There is current 6V at the terminal block but no current at the switch itself. The wire from terminal block to switch has a cylindrical block midway in the wire that is about 1" in length. I'm assuming it serves as a resistor but I can't find any information showing such an item. I'm assuming it has failed and doesn't allow current to reach the switch. I need a little help.

That round cylindrical piece that you see while not original is a fuse holder. Unscrew the 2 halves of it and you will find a cylindrical glass fuse in it. I would bet the fuse is blown. I hope this info helps.
