Wiring Lights

I am ready to wire lights on my B. I took a picture of the back of the switch. I think the settings are off, front, back, correct me if I am wrong. There are nine screws on the switch and I am not sure what wire goes where.

Also, the fuse is missing. What size do I need? Thanks!

The light switch has 4 positions. Clockwise from the left they are L (low charge, lights off); H (high charge, lights off); D (high charge, lights on dim); and H (high charge, lights on bright)

The screw you labelled #9 is the "hot" supply - connect it to the ammeter
#2 connects to the front lights
#5 connects to the rear light
#8 connects to the generator F terminal. Unless the original stock cutout has been replaced with a voltage regulator in which case #8 is not used.
The other screws are not used.

Fuse should be a 15 amp glass cartridge fuse - AGC15 if I recall correctly.

Thanks. I'm not sure I follow on #8. Could you explain it to me? I don't have a generator. I am going to wire up a alt. You emailed a diagram a few years back to do this with a mag. I am now just getting around to it.

fuse needs 20 amp 3 lites @ 6amps ea

If you don't have a generator with the original cutout, #8 is not used.

You wire up the alternator per Bob M's diagram.

Do yourself a favor and run a new wire from a reliable ground at
the the base of the steering pedestal to number 7. The original
design used a mechanical ground that came through the switch,
those long skinny screws, the switch enclosure and the mounting
bolt. After 60 years the ground is often gone. By adding a
reliable ground you will make number 8 (generator field) work as
intended.
