Wiring placement for headlights/taillights

Hi,

Does anybody have a diagram or instructions for the correct layout for the headlights and taillight wiring on an 8N? I'd like to get this right, like the way the original lighting kits were installed on the tractors by the dealers. I have the correct wiring harnesses and the clips. I just need to know where they go.

Bruce, I talked to Mom in Ashland at 3PM EST. She said the power was still on. Hope it stays that way!

Thanks.

correct for your net charge setup would be to wire the power from the headlamp off the same connection that also feeds the hot side of the ignition switch.. for instance on a front mount N, the lower 3rd terminal on the ballast resistor. wire from there to your fused lamp switch, and from the lamp switch to the lamps. I reccomend running a ground wire from a good clean ground to wire under the lamp mounting base using a large ring terminal.. good grounds = good brite lights... and 50 yr old rusty sheet metal.. or shiny painted sheet metal makes for bad grounds..

John.......would you believe that the N-Ford Master Parts Catalog (MPC) has a pictorial of the recommended headlite and taillite wiring??? (see: pg 160) But since the headlites and taillites were installed by the dealer BEFORE the MPC was printed, guess what??? Mechanics wired'um ennywhichway. ......Dell
