Wisconsin engine identification - Spec number

Hi,
I have a Wisconsin engine with the following information on the engine plate:

Size: 3 5/8 X 4

Serial number: 732362

Model: AHH

Specification number: 22246-2

I used the Wisconsin serial number lookup and found that the engine was manufactured in 1946. I also found that this is a 9.2 HP engine. However, I have not been able to find any information about the spec number. Does anyone know what the spec number means? I am pretty sure that this engine came off of a pull behind combine. I remember the combine back when I was a young boy and was hoping that the spec number might give me more information about the specifics as to its original use.

Any additional information relating to how to interpret the spec number would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Those spec numbers pertained to OEMs. Wisconsin made engines to individual specs for different customers. Could apply to shaft size and key, rotation, clutches, mounting holes, throttle, etc. I don't know where you could find a listing.

How many cylinders? 1-2 or 4? That HP sounds like a 1 cylinder and would not have been big enough for a Combine. Different makes used a 2 cylinder on baler and some companys used the 4 cylinder on some balers and the combines.

Mike: Thanks for the reply. What you described in your reply is exactly what I am looking for. Still looking... I hope that someone has a spec reference list.

Leroy: Thank you for your reply. The engine is a single cylinder. You may be right about the original use of the motor... it was a very long time ago. I am just looking to decipher the spec number in an effort to determine exactly what it was originally used for.

Could have been for any use that required power from a well pump to a corn sheller to a feed grinder or grain elevator, buzz saw or table saw, concrete mixer or anything like that. I dought it was built for a specifik job.

Leroy - That is probably the case. Just thought that I would take a shot. Thanks.
