I am restoring a Hyster QN20 and am interested in any tips you want to pass along. I have replaced the distributor cap and rotor. and have sent the starter in to have it rebuilt.I don't have a manual so I am progressing kind of blind here. So far I have been able to find parts at NAPA. But I am not sure how to check the fluids in the drive axle. I am hoping I can clean the gunk out of the engine and get it running, but I don't know for sure what else I should be doing before I try to start the engine. I found a oil filter and was told to put about a qt of atf fluid in with the oil and run it for about 10 min. to clean out the yrs of gunk in the engine. It looks like the previous owner was using a 12volt battery. I have been told the starter is a 6 volt. guess that doesn't matter??! There is an electric fuel pump on it. It made a clattering noise when I hooked a battery to the system. That's when I found out the starter didn't work! I found a master brake cylinder on ebay that looks like it might work. How do I check the fluid in the drive axle? I can't find an opening. This is a manual transmission, so I hope the clutch is OK! I know I have rambled on and there is a lot of questions, but I will be greatful for any information that you can provide. Thanks Much Randy ([email protected])
