I am new to the group. I purchased a Wizzard lawn tractor with a serial #041795D 004350. Just wondering the year how many produced and anything of interest for that year. I don't think it was used much.
Thanks much.

Welcome to the forums.

You might want to scroll down the index a bit and ask about your Wizard lawn tractor down on the Garden Tractors forum this site has.

Hello oldcar, welcome to YT! I assume you know the following, which I knew before doing a search on them who they were sold by,
probably due to having one of their stores in our hometown. From Google AI:
Wizard garden tractors were store-brand machines manufactured for Western Auto by various companies, including Bolens, MTD, Gilson, and Murray, primarily from the 1950s through the 1990s. They are known as reliable, rebadged lawn and garden tractors—with 1960s models often being rebranded Bolens Ridematics—using Briggs & Stratton, Tecumseh, or Clinton engines..
I am wondering if you know if yours was built by Bolens or if it is made by one of the others 3 options shown? In my mind if it is one of the others it is somewhat of a lesser machine, sorry for that opinion. Hopefully someone else will be along with more information. I also echo the recommendation of posting this on the Garden Tractor forum.

I had a Wizard 25 HP 4 cyl. outboard....built on the Mercury 30 HP spec. with a lot less glitter. Western Auto I think was the chain of stores that handled Wizard products. Was my first outboard engine and bought it when a teen ager with funds I earned in the summer vacation periods. Might say I "lusted in my heart" (Jimmy Carter) for that thing before I could afford the $400 it cost. Went by the store almost every day looking in the display window at it.

We owned a couple of Wizard riders and one push mower. Western Auto was our go to place for almost everything. The first rider was a 1967 5 HP 25 inch with a metal high back seat and some goofy handlebars, semi pneumatic rear tires. The 2nd was a 1975 8HP/34 lawn tractor with electric start by MTD, it lasted until the late 90s,replace the 8 horse with a 10. As long as parts were available, we kept them going.
