There's Facebook and there's Instagram. Just because some of the same people are on both doesn't mean they're the same thing. Just because you post on one forum doesn't mean you have to go to the other. Let the ones who want to know what everybody had for breakfast stay over there.

What does Facebook and Instagram have to do with posting topics in the proper forums here on YT?

Do what you want to do. I don't care in the least. Just because they're both on the YT website doesn't mean they're both mandatory if you want to post something. You guys who have a problem with it, go down on the comments forum and tell the moderator to move posts to where you want them.

As long as nobody is using this forum to tell me what they had to eat today or what today's weather is in Gut Punch Oklahoma, I'm good.

I think Gary is referring to the Classic threaded view vs this Modern bubble-up view.

That's an operator issue. They can change their settings.

As for some posters using this site as their personal daily diary- whatever, who cares. I personally don't read them because what do I care what the weather is in certain locales each day of the week.... It's forum traffic for a website that's losing relevance as many users "age out." A lot of regular posters have passed on since I joined and yes some claim they were "driven away," but most of it has to simply do with change, hurt feelings, or people calling them out on their crap. Anyone with half a search function ability can find the same style of "hurtful" posts on the "old" website. This current website setup may eek out a few more years of relevance to the younger crowd.

When I was on this site starting back in about 2005 or thereabouts there seemed to be more people active on it. As in there were more members on at the same time with conversations occurring in real time. Maybe it's just the way I remember. It just seemed to be that way back then. I was on for a few years then gone for about 8 or 10 years to attend to life and kids and such. I didn't have the same computer or email by the time I returned and had no idea what my username or password were anymore so I had to start a new account.

One thing to consider is the posts on the Tales board are not archived. Once they fall off the list they are gone forever (i think?)
This board archives everything forever.
Some things I post, like the stories I've written I want them to be archived so I will post them here rather than on the Tales board.
As to the spelling and writing skills here:
My opinion is that most of the members here have above average writing skills and can write a sentence or paragraph and put their thoughts into writing better than many, if not most people.
That is admirable, especially since most of us are blue collar types and made a living with hammers, wrenches, tractors and tape measures and not pens, paper and type writers.
I sometimes think of the talent and advice that ISN'T shared here because some folks can't write a sentence.
My old pal Kenny is one. He has one of the brightest, most ingenious minds of any man I've ever known but couldn't write a sentence or spell a word if his life depended on it.
So kudos to all, thank a teacher and proof read your darned posts!

Some of us try, but were let out of English class for time served. Two of the best business men I have ever worked with were functionally illiterate. They both had to quit school after the 8th grade to help support their families. Didn't stop them from from making something of themselves. One was a fairly large farmer for the area, the other ran a sawmill and cabinet/window factory.
