Wonky hydroboost update

A couple of months ago I posted about problems I was having with a reman hydroboost I had installed in my Silverado 2500 HD. I was losing boost at random times, which was a bit disconcerting. Well, I replaced the reman booster with a brand-new AC Delco unit and my problems completely disappeared. I've put several thousand miles on the truck since then.

Today I decided to see if O'Reilly's Lifetime Limited Warranty is any good. I brought the reman unit in and they gave me my money back. 'nuff said.

It's amazing ( but not uncommon) that in today's world something as critical as a brake system component sold by a major autoparts chain can be of such inferior quality!

I actually have a similar experiance as well when the hydro boost system failed (which is why the salesman stopped driving it) and power steering (he said he thought it hadn't worked right all winter) on one of the work pickups from that place but in our case it was the power steering pump that took a couple tries on the 6.0. and threw us for a loop because we questioned the effectiveness of the hydro boost itself it was 20 years old maybe its that there isn't a whole lot else it can be throw parts at it until it works right? its spring after all and everybody is waking up when it could have been a winter easy fix. quick YouTube search and it looked like the booster could cause a power steering issue and...still didn't work with the new one. Pulled the power steering pump again took it back they gave us a new one and the second one worked great. They are the significantly cheaper place in town here and yeah I have had more troubles with some things of theirs compared to Napa. An AC controller that took 3 tries with the 3rd time going to the other place comes to mind. A belt that when installed sounded like all the idlers locked up didn't even know it was possible. They do still turn a rotor for 20 bucks at the one location across town and the filters are much cheaper. Never a return issue though when the belt wasn't right the parts man gave me the premium one and that worked fine he was kind of like great another inexpensive belt failure. Alternator that didn't work out of the box. Its like the bad memories that had been tucked away that just keep popping up. There were multiple reasons I opened an account at the other place when I started the business a few years ago and didn't bother with this one. I'm in however most on Sunday if there is an issue though since they are open Napa is not and now that harvest is wrapping up it is time to finnaly go get that O Reillys account.
