Won't go in gear

After sitting all winter, I cannot shift into gear. It only grinds. On one occasion, while going forward, it did not come out of gear when the clutch was put in. I only use this about four times a year. Just got it 2 years go. Is not worth it to me, at the age of 80, to put a lot of money into it. If necessary, am willing to put in a little aggregation each time I use it, rather than fixing it right with big bucks. Thanks for the help.
