My 8N hitch will not hold position. It almost acts like it's in draft control but after about 12 tries I can get it where I want it. Once it's lifted I must start over. Sometimes it raises, sometimes it drifts down. When it moves on its own it moves inches as opposed to fractions. It is hard to mow with a rotary. What is the likely problem and cure?

assuming you are in position control? ( lil handle straight up? )

otherwise.. I'd say you might have some sever cam pin wear and perhaps be out of adjustment.

anything happen if you pull or press onthe draft lever.. anything change with control of the 3pt?

post back.

With the engine running and PTO engaged from the draft control lever moved from vertical to horizontal the hitch went up. Moved back to vertical it moved further up. After moving the lever back and forth several times it quit moving at all. Certainly acts like something is worn. It is very erratic in the field. New pin huh?

are you saying that by moving the lil 3" draft handle up and down that the lift then goes up higher ( or lower) with the 3pt control?

if yes, then I'd deffinately pop the top and check the linkage adjustments and the cam pin.. might be wore near thru

Yes, moving only the small lever sometimes makes the hitch go up no matter which way you move it. I didn't see it go down when the small lever was moved. I'll buy the jig and fix it. Thanx.
