i have a ford 8n tractor, that won’t start, four months ago i put a new carberator in it ran ok , it sits alot but i have a battery maintainer on it to keep the battery charged, it has juice to the switch, juice to the alternator, and it has spark to the plugs, i also checked to see if i was getting gas flow to the carberator and i am, so it’s not a fuel problem, it has a oil bath air filter which i cleaned not to along ago, could it be that the tractor isn’t getting enough air,,,,,,i don’t know what’s going on with this tractor!!! any ideas?..
Someone mentioned air flow. You say it ran when parked. Make sure nothing made a nest in the air inlet somewhere. My story: my tractor just started running out of power just idled. l changed the carburetor., still didnt run right. It had good spark, but still didn't run good. Finally found my air cleaner was plugged with radish seeds from radish bushes I was disking. This was a few years ago when I was still disking for others. I don't like doing this, but spray a shot of starting fluid in the air intake. Stan

About 3 years ago a guy had a wont run 9n. Had sat a year. When it wouldnt start, he took the air intake off the back of the carb, and tried again to start it.

Saw gas squirting aft, out the carb.
Horizontal squirts --- not dripping.
Wondered if intake valve or valves were stuck open. Asked for help on 9n 2n & 8n forum here.

He got it the stuck intake valve/valves freed up, and it started up with this fine advice from Den
