Lots of folks have been complaining about people stealing stuff to sell as scrap.....well they got a local guy here and he's in deep doodoo.

I knew about the tractor cause a relative called me when the Ford was reported as stolen and he wanted to warn me about the stuff getting stolen. He's the one who knew the owner and then later saw the trator at this low life's place and called the cops. Guy tried telling the cops that he bought it from the owner after the owner reported it stolen.

Hope he gets to spend some real time in the big house.

Lock him up and throw away the key! More than likely in todays world, they will slap his wrist and turn him loose. He will likely sue those that filed a complaint. (Justice system sucks)

Glad they got him. I was on vacation for a couple weeks and had a brother house sit while gone. Only family and co workers knew we were on vacation. Got back and started unloaded fiancee's stuff the next morning, when she noticed jewelry missing. Also found tools missing. Had an idea it was my brothers "friend". Told officer and he entered the name in the pawn shop data base and low and behold, all kinds of pawn tickets. Waiting for pics to verify that it is ours. He is on parole, so this may send hime directly back to the big house.

I'm glad they got him, but there will probably be two or three more to take his place.
My FIL had his John Deere tractor stolen about 10 years ago. The thief was an ex-JD mechanic, so he knew how to hot-wire it. The tractor was found about 25 miles away from where it was stolen and the tractor was recovered in the middle of a pasture. The cops actually had to use a helicopter to find it. Thanks to the thief's girlfriend who snitched on him, the guy got caught, admitted to it and one of the conditions was that he pay my FIL $1000 as compensation for damage done to the tractor. My FIL didn't get a single red cent, and except for the hour or two after his arrest, the thief spent no time in jail.

I think this guy has priors so maybe he will actually do some time over it. I know they still have him locked up or did as of yesterday.

I don't really know the guy but the general consensus of people who do is that he's a loser.

The girls family I know well. I know her parents have to be upset over this. The dad is retired Navy.

I caught bad guys for a living for a long time. Don't get your hopes up too high. I've seen people caught red handed walk away with not even a slap on the wrist. You get pretty cynical about it after a while.

They caught a guy locally last week for stealing over $20,000 worth of AC equipment from a factory that was being dis-mantled. I think he came up with about $30.000 for a secured bond. One of the lowest things we have had to put up with around here is brass urns or flower pots being stolen off graves in the cemeteries.
