My brother dropped off a piece of applewood from a tree he cut down at his farm
He wanted a spoon made from it
Today I made some ,,,the limb is knotty,,but Im gonna make as much stuff as I can for him,,this is what I made tonight

never made spoons from applewood,,it turns out quite pretty

The peelings are cooked down,,and strained,,now they are in the fridge till tomorrow,,didnt add the sugar in,,when the applebutter is done,,will can both .

The wife was busy most of the day with her Church class,,I keep busy and out of her way so she can concentrate on the class.

Apple is pretty and tough. In the old days loom shuttles were made from it. It doesn't splinter easily either.

What are you oiling them with? Mineral oil is best. Most oils used for cooking turn rancid after a while.

Nice use of the contrasting sap/heart woods !

I used something called butcher block conditioner,it says food safe,made with beeswax

Back in the '50s we made bread/cutting boards in 4-H. We put them in an oven, heated them up and rubbed paraffin into the wood.
